Byk Pu Seal 9601-2K

Polyurethane Based Dilatation and Joint Filling Material

BYK PU SEAL 9601 – 2K is a two-component, polyurethane based, cold applied, highly elastic, self-spreading dilatation and joint sealant with high mechanical and chemical resistance. It shows a high performance after curing. It is resistant to different climatic and temperature conditions. It also shows very good resistance to chemicals and other destructive factors.

Places of Usage

• In building dilatation joints.
• Parking garages.
• Terminal Ramps.
• Hangar.
• Loading and unloading points.
• In indoor, outdoor horizontal joints.
• Infrastructure.
• Airport runways.
• Sewers.
• Gas Stations.
• Bridge platforms.

Advantages

• It is cured fast.
• It maintains its elasticity between -40°C and +86ºC temperatures.
• It is self levelling, and easy and fast to apply.
• Adheres to any surface with BYK PU PRIMER 9001 - 1K primer.
• BYK PU TH 901 can be used according to the conditions, even if it doesn't need thinning.
• It is resistant to cold. The film retains its elasticity up to -40°C.
• It has excellent mechanical properties; high elongation, tensile, tear and abrasion resistance.
• It shows good resistance to chemicals.

Application Procedures

When mixing and applying, wear rubber gloves and safety goggles to protect your skin and eyes. Do not add any foreign substance and water into the product. Since the product will harden immediately when mixed in extremely hot weather, it should be mixed as much as it will be used. It should not be applied under +5°C.

Surface Preparation

If possible, the surface should be cleaned using a high-pressure washer; oil, grease, fuel and paraffin residues should be removed, it should also be completely free of mold release agents, cement residues, chips, loose particles and cured membranes.

Priming

For absorbing surfaces BYK PU PRIMER 9001 - 1K, BYK EP WB PRIMER 9006 - 2K and BYK PU PRIMER 9002 - 2K For hard and normal surfaces BYK EP TR PRIMER 9005 - 2K

Mixing

Apply immediately after mixing equal amounts of the two components by hand or with a mixer running at low speed (300 rpm). The pot life of the mixture is 30-45 minutes at 20 °C.

Application

Polyethylene roving of appropriate size is placed in the joint, which has been prepared with sub-surface preparation (repair, cleaning, priming) and masking tape on the edges, care should be taken to ensure that the width / depth is in a ratio of 2/1. when performing this process.

Then the prepared sealant is applied by pouring it into the joint. When applying, ensure that the sealant adheres to the two opposite inner surfaces of the joint. Care must be taken not to adhere it to a third surface (bottom). After the joint filling process is completed, the surface is leveled with a suitable spatula and the application is completed by carefully removing the masking tape.

The packages that was kept 24 hours at room temperature (+15°C- +25°C) should be opened and mixed until homogenous consistency is reached. Mixing must be done with a low speed mixer and a suitable tip. The material must be protected against water, rain, external factors and mechanical stresses until it sets. It should be noted that the waiting time may be shorter in hot weather and longer in cold weather.

Packaging

In 8kg + 4kg special metal packages

Shelf Life
It can be stored in its original unopened buckets in dry conditions at temperatures between 5°C and 25°C for a minimum of 12 months. Containers of unmixed components must be kept hermetically sealed until the next use.
Storage

Store in unopened original packaging in a cool and dry place protected from frost. For short-term storage, a maximum of 2 pallets should be placed on top of each other and should be shipped with first in first out. For long-term storage, pallets should not be stacked on top of each other.

Safety Precautions

Flammable and combustible products should be kept away during application. No smoking. Take care to ensure continuous ventilation of the application area. Protective equipment such as goggles and gloves should be used during application. In case of eye contact, rinse thoroughly with plenty of water. Ask for Material Safety Data Sheet for detailed information. Keep out of the reach of children. The product must be used by professional users, taking into account the data in the technical information section.
